Is theatre out of date?

In my opinion, theatre is out of date and it is replaced by the movies. Why people prefer to movies? Nowadays, movies have become the common entertainment and people are more interested in watching movies. When a latest movie is getting on, a lot of advertisement will be advertised on television, newspaper or magazine in order to promote the movie. People can watch the trailer of the latest movies on internet as well. It catches the audiences’ attention easily from the first minute.

Nowadays, movie is produced with advanced technology. People are more interested in a movie because they can see a lot of special effect which movies are usually packed with. However, they cannot get this in watching a play in theater. Besides that, there is a great variety of film genres.

There is another reason that why people choose a movie instead of a play. Watching a movie in cinema is affordable, while watching a play in theatre is costly. For instance, some of the plays cannot be finished in a day, so the performance may take two or three days in order to finish. However, a movie can be finished in two hours. If a person who wants to go to theatre, he or she must spend a lot for a play, whereas, watching a movie in cinema just cost RM 10 to RM 15. In addition, people can watch a movie at home and this is comfortable and convenient. They can just switch on their television or watch the online movies. Therefore, people rather choose the convenient and economical entertainment.
